It doesn’t seem like almost 9 years since Feeder released their debut mini album Swim. The album was re-released in 2001 with a number of additional tracks recorded around the same time. The original release only contained 6 tracks but as the bands confidence in themselves and their music continued to grow, they decided to add an additional 5. The resulting album provides an excellent insight into Feeder’s musical origins and the rock roots they sprung from. As a debut album it seemed to slip by almost unnoticed but with the re-release coinciding with the bands most successful album to date it was the ideal opportunity. They also had an added bonus with a ... Read the complete review

Feeder may have the hit the headlines for reasons they would not have wanted recently. The death of Jon Lee, their drummer was tragic, just when Feeder seemed to be getting the recognition they deserved they are hit back. Swim is the first ever album they released under contract as the current line up, way back in 1996. Swim was originally released as a six-track mini album in June 1996. I got the new edition that includes the original six and five other songs from the same sort of time, as well as two videos of ‘Crash’’ and ‘Cement’. The original six are the first six songs on the album basically ‘Sweet 16’, ... Read the complete review

Feeder have changed their musical stylings somewhat over the years. Currently, I would summarise their style as strong, bold British pop rock. They are the kings of the catchy chorus and have written some fabulously cheesey singalong lyrics in their time (Buck Rogers being a prime example) It's interesting then to see how they all began. Back in their youth, these guys were clearly more expressive in their angst. "Swim" is full of dark, self depreciating lyrics (the title track has Grant singing "I hate myself..." throughout the chorus). Musically, the band are quite a lot heavier - though I would not go as far to say they were ever a ... Read the complete review

This mini album was the first 'proper' release from this two thirds welsh, one third japanese band. Feeder have gained a national, and international fanbase by their extensive touring in their early days. Frontman Grant Nicholas confessing to 'playing in every toilet in Britain'. Their efforts were not in vain, with the release of Swim's follow up 'Polythene' spawning a top 20 hit in 'High'. They have since had top ten success with 'Buck Rogers', and have been recently been in the news due to the death of drummer Jon Lee. The album consists of a various types of songs. As well as thrashy rock (W.I.T), the album has ... Read the complete review
