Advantages: Good Songs

Disadvantages: Too short

This mini album was the first 'proper' release from this two thirds welsh, one third japanese band. Feeder have gained a national, and international fanbase by their extensive touring in their early days. Frontman Grant Nicholas confessing to 'playing in every toilet in Britain'. Their efforts were not in vain, with the release of Swim's follow up 'Polythene' spawning a top 20 hit in 'High'. They have since had top ten success with 'Buck Rogers', and have been recently been in the news due to the death of drummer Jon Lee.

The album consists of a various types of songs. As well as thrashy rock (W.I.T), the album has more subdued and mellow songs in the form of Swim. After its release, critics were quick to label Feeder the 'New Smashing Pumpkins'. In all respect, Feeder deserve a better judgement. Aside from the 3 chord rock, there are plenty of harmonies (Descend), and plenty of other treats as well. In all, Swim provided a platform for Feeder to rise and become one of Britain's finest prospects in music.

Sweet 16

A great opening track. Full of powerful guitar riffs that is underlaid by Grant's husky voice. Powerful stuff

Stereo World

A huge powerful riff, that borderlines on nu-metal. Grant's voice becomes less husky and more melodic for a great chorus, with the aid of Taka.

WIT

More manic riffage, this is personally the weakest song on the album, but would still fit in as one of the best to most other bands.

Descend

My favourite track. The chorus again is melodic, but pained with Grant's vein-popping singing. Deserved to be promoted to Polythene.

Shade

Yet again heavy layered guitars. Great live song.

Swim

The slowest and most mellow song on the album. A great album wind down. Great stuff.

I can't really comment on the other songs. I bought the original 'Swim'
years ago, and that was all the songs on there. I've heard 'Chicken On A Bone', which seems to fit in well with the rest of the album. This is an album well worth buying!

Sorry about the SU, but you really need more info. Try a track by track listing and more info on the album in general. And Swim being a mini album and all, its supposed to be short!
