I first discovered the New York trio of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs one night whilst watching the MTV2 show Gonzo. Hosted by alternative music expert Zane Lowe, I instantly fell in love with the group's second single, 'Pin'. The edgy, grungy video, compiled of a doll waltzing around a bustling city with needles sticking out of her limbs, made me keep an ear out for the band and after hearing other songs from their debut album, I have to say I really began to like the Yeahs; there was something different about their sound - something a bit punky, a bit gritty and the music had a vibe to it which you could almost class as a series of accidents. In an interview with the band, ... Read the complete review

I have been a fan of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for a few years now. Some of their songs are fantastic. But have never bought one of their albums. So recently I got myself a copy of their debut, Fever to tell came out back in 2003. Fronted by the wonderful Karen O, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a kind of electric punk band. Quite unusual sound so I was not sure what to expect. So here is what I think of the album, track by track: 1. Rich - Explosive start to the album. Big sounds, lots of screechy vocals from Karen, not a bad song, but nothing special. 7/10 2. Date With The Night - I think this was their first single. It's a short blast very catchy ... Hell Yes! The Yeah Yeah Yeah's did on this album what Kittie always wanted to do. To be bratty, to be loud, to stand up and not give a f*ck about female norms. And to make punk more listenable and more mature than everyone else. Hailing from New York, they are city folk with massive attitudes. Karen "O" as she calls herself has the voice of the effects of an air raid - spectacular, very loud and full of emotion. I have a friend who has a dream. He wants to get very drunk and then get beaten up by Karen O at one of their gigs. This album really kicked them onto the "cool" scene and had everyone ranting and raving about how bloody cool they ... Read the complete review

I?m back after about a year. Yes, yes y?all I?m back!!!!! Well, let?s talk about hype. Everyone loves to talk about hype. And, man, does everybody love to hate on hyped bands. Now let?s think of some hyped bands in recent memory. Errrmm? The White Stripes?.good, but not mindblowing, as everyone would have you believe. The Kings of Leon?.average to good ?far too retro?man. The Strokes (oh how long ago it seems now)?hey they produced a damn fine album, even if no-one ever listens to it now. The Vines?. Hmmm, average. The Coral? poor at best. The Thrills, very pleasant, let?s move on though. Yes, sir the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs (were), are one hyped band. After ... Read the complete review

I first discovered Yeah Yeah Yeahs through thier song 'Maps' and was struck by it's concise yet effective and extremely emotional musical language. I immediatly thought 'these guys know what they're doing, have faith in what they're doing...and do it'. Admirable. I rushed out and bought the album and listened to it though many times. I was excited, I was re-freshed. It was great to hear a band with imagination beyond chord progressions, drum clumping, over-production and sparing me the lack of genuine honesty that alot of musicians suffer from. The lyrics are wonderful - from the wittyily sarcastic (the lead singer pitches the words in a sarcastic tone, or at least i ... Read the complete review
