When this album was released in 2008 it was the most original sound to have come on the music scene in years. I find it quite difficult to classify Fleet Foxes into a genre because they are incredibly unique. I think folk would be the best I could come up with but it doesn't really do them justice. Their voices are perfect. ... Read the complete review

Fleet Foxes is the debut album of the same name band another album I had to check out on my Glastonbury album trail. Whilst it might be different to numerous contemporaries, I actually found it a bit limited and overrated when discovering its successes. There image seems to be a bit of a trendy folk hippy one with minimalistic videos and touchy ... Read the complete review

An utterly brilliant record. Melodic harmonies throughout that do nothing other than calm and soothe rather brilliantly. 'White Winter Hymnal' is a magnificent piece of rock-pop, with its calming rhythms resonating deeply and charming each and every listener. It's a wonderful piece of cohesive music, starting and ending with strong tracks. The ... Read the complete review

Now I was not sure whether I would believe all the hype surrounding Fleet Foxes. They were getting so much media attention, it always makes me a little sceptical of whether I will like their music. Feted by many as the 'album of 2008', Fleet Foxes' eponymous debut album is certainly one of the strongest, and it's influence is sure to reverberate throughout this year and maybe beyond. This Seattle (yes, Seattle) outfit are all about harmony and melody, and their music is capable of evoking images and spirits from both Appalachia and late ... Read the complete review

This album ranks in the top 50 albums of 2008 lists of a fair few very well respected music publications. It was also recommended to me by this very site as well as by a colleague who has similar musical tastes to mine. However, I felt this album was very much overrated. It's ok, it's fine, and I have no problem giving it 3*, while I ... Read the complete review
