Tokyo Tales - Blind GuardianAlso Big in Japan (743 words)
by Frankingsteins - written on 22/02/08 (Very useful, 20 readings)
Tokyo Tales is B Blind Guardian s first live album, recorded during the tour for Somewhere Far Beyond and featuring songs from the first four albums, making it vastly different to later live releases that focus more extensively on the late nineties material. Presumably without knowing it, the band released this album at just the right time, before their sound changed dramatically to incorporate more orchestral influence and eventually to follow lofty conceptual themes, so fans of Blind Guardian s early years as a Helloween-like speed metal band with fantasy leanings will find most of their needs catered for here. Most, but not all. The only real problem with this album ...
Imaginations From The Other Side - Blind GuardianHeart of a Dragon Lies at the Edge of Time (773 words)
by Frankingsteins - written on 22/02/08 (Very useful, 18 readings)
Imaginations is a stunning album from B Blind Guardian that instantly established them as the leading force in power metal, an achievement that was arguably topped by their own Nightfall in Middle-Earth before a lack of consistent album releases and deviation into less satisfying realms relegated them to mere god status. Powerful, furious, epic and delicate, this is a huge step beyond their first four albums and boasts a 100% success rate from its nine songs, all of which still form the bulk of live set-lists today. While Nightfall was more ambitious and majestic, Imaginations is the peak of Blind Guardian s "live" performance, backed up by subtle, ...
Battalions Of Fear - Blind GuardianGuardians of the Blind (794 words)
by Frankingsteins - written on 16/01/06 (Very useful, 118 readings)
Founded at a time when American thrash metal was at its peak, German band Battalions of Fear –re-naming themselves B Blind Guardian shortly before releasing this album – would go on to become the leading band in European power metal. Their debut is still a strong album, despite poor production quality and the undeveloped talents of the band members, combining the best thrash elements of early Metallica with the epic fantasy-inspired heavy metal of Germany’s Helloween and their offspring Gamma Ray. The nine tracks on Battalions of Fear are consistently strong, despite lacking the originality and splendour of the band’s later masterpieces such as ‘Somewhere Far Beyond,’ ...

Have A Nice Day - Bon Jovi - A contemporary Bon Jovi album, great tracks. None
All Those Wasted Years - Hanoi Rocks - brash, trashy, energetic good time attitude filled rock underproduced by modern standards
Burzum - Burzum - Highly enjoyable black metal from a supremely talented one-man-band. Low production values and shrieking vocals will put off casual listeners.
Pandemonic Incantation +..... - Behemoth - Incorporates interesting death metal elements. Production is disappointingly non-weak.
Behemoth Satanica - Behemoth - Convincingly and skilfully heavy, in a mind-melting sense. Unfortunate departure from their previous black metal sound to something more concerned with volume.
