Back in 1992, two boys started a small band in Poway, San Diego. Their names wee Tom DeLonge and Scott Raynor on guitar and drums respectively. They soon recruited mark Hoppus onto bass. They went by the name 'Blink'. They practiced continually, and after a couple of months, they decided to record a tape. This was done in Scott's bedroom, and contained 8 tracks. The front cover was simply blue with an A on it, drawn by Mark. It was called 'Flyswatter' and contained 8 tracks. They were a follows : 1. Reebok Commercial 2. Time 3. Red Skies 4. Alone 5. Point Of View 6. Marlboro Man 7. The Longest Line 8. Freak Scene Only a hundred/two hundred copies were made of the tape, and they were given out/sold and the band were soon loved by a lot of Poway locals. The band went on to sign to the Grilled Cheese/Cargo records label/s. They recorded Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch and Flyswatter was soon forgotten. But then the tracks starting being circulated on the internet in mp3 format. This started a new interest in the tape, and soon fans were asking Tom and Mark about it, and they told everyone how much they hated it. The quality of the recording, is very poor on these songs (except The bands cover of NOFX's 'The Longest Line' which comes out surprisingly clear), which isn't surprisng, seeing as the tape was recorded in Scotts bedroom!!! But that doesn't stop this from being a very good collection of songs. songs like 'Alone' and 'Time' are great, and it is very hard to understand why the band don't like them. The songs 'Time', 'Reebok Commercial' and 'Point Of View' were re-recorded for the original Buddha tape and the Cd of the Buddha demo (released on Kung-Fu Records), and you can actually hear what the words are. I think that this would be great if it was re-recorded and re-released, but i somehow don&
#39;t think it'd happen judging from this quote from Tom (Taken from the Blink-182 'Tales From Beneath Your Mom' book) which i will leave with you, too think about: ***"Kids are always where they can find a copy of FLYSWATTER. I always think, dude, if you even knew what you were trying to get. It's like trying to find an actual piece of feces."***

- 18/01/02 It is, in all honesty, Blink-182 at their worst, but it's the best piece of crap I've ever listened to.
