Advantages: Elvis`s voice.
Disadvantages: Some weak tracks.
The CD album "follow that dream" is another release from the Elvis Presley specialist record label FTD.
This album contains music from the movie of the same name, there was never a soundtrack released to this movie back in 1961 and even now this is not a true soundtrack because there are songs on it that never appeared in the movie.
Much of the songs on the album have had the usual work over from FTD, as in they have had overdubs of more modern instruments added to replace the original live guitar band that accompanied Elvis.
This is by no means one of FTD`s best efforts and it becomes a bit repetitive with all the different takes of the same tracks. The title track "follow that dream" is the best track on the album and the original version of it is better than the FTD altered version, "angel" also is a good track but other than those two this album could easily be one to forget even for the biggest of Elvis fans.
As with any Elvis album the vocals are of course excellent and even though some of the tracks are weak, Elvis`s voice carries them off to a decent standard.
I would have to say though that there are many, many Elvis albums that I would recommend before this one and this is probably just an album for the true fans that collect everything Elvis!
