Any fans of the classic near-epic ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ should immediately recognise the opening chants of this second album by German power metal leaders Blind Guardian. This genre of rock isn’t exactly the most well-known and popular in Great Britain, but Blind Guardian’s talent for diversity and creating truly epic songs based on fantasy themes have led to them developing a loyal fan base and selling plenty of albums in their more progressively-oriented homeland. ‘Follow the Blind’ continues with, and improves upon, the style of their first album, but the band still had a few line-up changes and albums to go before they would develop their truly ... This is the second album of one of the best known power metal bands, Blind Guardian. This album is of pure powermetal and will sound strange to newer fans of the band that are used to the more symphonic inclinated nightfall on middle earth and a night at the opera (among others), but you will not find it strange since this album is from 1989. The first track is an interesting monk choir that might sound familiar to ppl that saw monty pytons quest for the holly grail. Valhalla, banish from sanctuary and damned for all time stand out of the other has great power metal songs with very catchy choirs (valhalla mostly). ... Read the complete review
