A Line Of Deathless Kings - My Dying Bride
by Burning_Darkness - written on 25/01/09 (Very useful, 37 readings)
Rating:
"Then Heaven opened above me And down Gods tears came Lashing away at my skin My stinking, rotten frame" My Dying Bride have always been evolving as a band, but one thing which has remained constant is the sheer quality of their releases. Their ninth full length,A Line of Deathless Kings, is no exception. It s a very mellow album by their standards, with Aaron Stainthorpe employing clean sung vocals for almost its entire duration. Likewise, the songs maintain a slow and steady pace throughout, being for the most part unhurried and reflective. Woeful, heavy riffs give way to achingly beautiful harmonised twin guitar riffs that stretch to the heavens, whilst ...

with tranquil, symphonic passages, successfully marrying together their diverse arrangements. This is where A Line of Deathless Kings picks up. There is nothing especially groundbreaking about this effort; My Dying Bride have long since ceased to push the envelope as far as evolving their sound is concerned, preferring instead to stick to their brand of powerful, emotional doom metal, of which they are the best exponents by some distance. So, what becomes increasingly evident as you listen to A Line of Deathless Kings is that My Dying Bride have long ceased to engage in the linear evolution that marked their earlier days, as they progressed through to increasingly ...

Trinity - My Dying Bride
by Frankingsteins - written on 09/08/06 (Very useful, 197 readings)
Rating:
portion of My Dying Bride’s career, demonstrates the band’s relentless attempt to improve and progress its sound with almost every release, integrity that has remained to the present day. My Dying Bride and their contemporaries were influenced by the traditional slow, gloomy and brooding doom metal from the likes of Black Sabbath, Cathedral and Candlemass, as well as the more aggressive and guttural sound of death metal. Although the two styles would be used only as inspiration by the time of the band’s second full-length album (and the latter two third of this collection) in which their unique, romanticised sound begins to be fully realised, their earliest material ...

The Works - Queen
It was the best album from Queen to that date, still incorporating a seventies rock sound
The track, 'Machines' feels out of place here.
Spiders - Space
Some classic tracks, funny at times, definitely a cult favourite
A couple of weaker tracks but not many
Schizophonic - Geri Halliwell
bag it up
artwork is dull
O - Damien Rice
Excellent songwrting, strong performances, studio recording captures the "feel" of the songs
"Cannonball" seems to pale to insignifance alongside some of the other tracks
Love - The Cult
Well Balanced, Dark
Not Quite Gothic Enough
Braveheart - Soundtrack
Romantically lush Hornerics that everybody loves
Uillean pipes galore and a slight unoriginality again shimmers
Sirens Of The Sea Remixed - Above & Beyond Presents OceanLab
Some great mixes, lengthy album, good for the completists
Sooner or later, it all wears very thin
Battlefield - Jordin Sparks
