Oh how wonderful, some of the best country records turned into club friendly classics! Does country work as dance music though? On this interesting package we get eleven songs then a bonus megamix on the second disc. The album is from the Almighty camp who brought us err similar treats on a similar scale of tackiness.

Up first a hideous reworking of 'Rhinestone Cowboy.' A good vocal from James Reay if not a little cheesy, then it arrives at the chorus and all the instruments from the verses drop out, making it sound lacking and oh so very cheap.

'Nine To Fine' gets a nasty retouch which loops the vocal over and over in one section. You can feel yourself clawing the walls in agony. There are some rousing synths in the background which add some spice, but the Dolly original is better. Check out 'Islands In The Stream' which has a very sickly vocal with fake emotion and one of those blokes who has clearly been roped in as a studio session singer, grotesque and a weak backing track too.

The Shania song 'From This Moment' gets a dubious rehash. The production is poor and the song lacks bite. The vocal just about cuts it, though some naff drum rolls and a general feeling of tack linger in the air. Time to dip into a twangy guitar version of 'Jolene' which sounds like it's part ATB and part...erm goodness knows, but it is a surefire disaster, maybe it's the Shadows actually. Vocals sound like a couple of cats battling it out over a dead shrew.

The megamix takes the same tracks, reorders them and delivers the same stuff in a seamless mix. Not recommended for country fans and not recommended for dance music fans. Actually, on the whole, not recommended.
