Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Part 1 is Iced Earth's (once known as Purgatory) eighth studio album. It's a concept album which is part of the Something Wicked Saga, as far as concepts go, it's quite complex as the band retell the destruction of mankind in a fictional way. This album features The Setians, the original inhabitants of their fictional world who are later attacked by an intelligent type of mankind who have almost probed into space. Iced Earth are an American Power Metal band that formed way back in 1984. Originally calling themselves 'Purgatory', the band were forced to change their name by another group of the same name. Over the years, the band have gone through numerous line-up changes, with Jon Schaffer now remaining to be the only original member of the band. As the rhythm guitarist and songwriter, Schaffer is and always has been the central figure behind the band.
