Mindless Self Indulgence are a show band, as the band's name tells you they are mindless and indulgent. They bring out and expose the alter ego within all of us. The lyrics reflect this and push it even further. Expect confrontational and offensive lyrics. Their music will engulf and send you through an experience like you've never known before. Mindless Self Indulgence belong to a genre of their own. Its a fusion of metal, rock, techno and industrial. They have such a unique sound it's hard to take in for a first listen. You have to stick with it and get use to the sound.
'Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy' I feel is one of Mindless Self Indulgences better albums. It contains some of the biggest and most favored songs that have come from Mindless Self Indulgence. The album is full of energy and is very much an experience for the listener.
A song called 'Faggot' is one of the most well known songs of Mindless Self Indulgence's. It's offensive and once it starts playing you can't escape from it. It features an incredibly high pitch tone from the lead singer. Other songs to pay attention to are 'Bitches', 'Clarissa' and 'I hate Jimmy Page'.
Overall, this is a great and revolutionary album. It will blast you onto a strange planet you have never come across before. Its fully charged and ready to take off.
"Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy" isn't "mindless self indulgences" best album by far. This is probably because it came out in 1999 so was one of their earlier albums. However it does have a number of very catchy tunes so is worth buying.
The whole album doesn't seem to have one main concept through out, but is more a mixture of live performances and random bits of their lead singer (Jimmy Urine) talking to the crowd. If you can get past the offensive language and repetitive lyrics then you will uncover a very good album.
The album is made up of 30 songs and although that sounds like a lot none of them go over 4 minutes and is mainly only about 1 or 2 minutes each. The first song "backmask" which starts of with Jimmy's voice shouting at the crowd. It then goes in to quite a good song, which isn't anywhere near as repetitive as some of the others on this album. "Bitches" is one of the best songs on the album, even though the same lyrics are repeated over and over again; the song isn't long enough for it to become irritating. Other good songs on the album include "I hate Jimmy Page" and "Harry Truman."
Overall the album is good, once you get past the constant offensive language. "Mindless self indulgence" has always had a unique sound and attitude and this album is no exception to that rule.
