Anastacia is alright in small doses. She is a tiny lady with a very big voice, but I do find too much of her in one sitting can start to grate. This album was her second album release and has a few gems tucked away in it. Who is she: US singer Anastacia found fame at the turn of the century, has battled and overcome cancer and is still going strong to this date (2009.) On this album: 'Paid My Dues' is a funky soulful workout which sees her blasting her big voice all over the place. Anastacia is on fine form here as she confirms she is taking no more and really sounds brassy and confident. It is one of the stronger moments on ... Read the complete review

Ignore the title- I'm not insulting Anastacia. It is the name of the pop diva's stonking new album. Not heard of it? Well it has been released to capitalise on the huge success and so far only one single has been released. Anastacia either thrills you through to the very bone with her amazing voice or turns you off and reminds you of forgotten 80's singer- Taylor Dayne. Either way- she has made a huge impact on the pop world. She also seems like a lovely lady when interviewed and does not seem to be the sort to demand 'evian filled' baths and other superstar extravagances! But who knows? Anyway- I'll stop waffling. Anastacia the girl with that voice has had an amazing debut album – Not That Kind, and four wicked singles appeared from that album. The massive smash ‘I’m Outta Love’, the album title ‘Not That Kind’, the ballad ‘Cowboys & Kisses’ and the funky ‘I Was Made For Loving You’. Now she’s into her second album Freak Of Nature which is her best album to date. There is much more variety in music on this album and the first single ‘Paid My Dues’ was a new mature sound for her. This album has a lot more to give than her first and what a success her first album was, so it looks like this album is going ... Read the complete review

Having showcased her incredible vocals on last year’s debut, NOT THAT KIND, which has sold near 5million copies- it sees Anastasia has recognised her best asset(s) and decided to run with them. Some people may find the voice impressively passionate, or you may just thinks it's just a show-off racket. Songs such as PAID MY DUES and the tittle track underline the personal aspect to most of the albums songs. She co-writes the album, which gives us a feel of why her vocals pack such an emotional punch. There’s a good 7 out of 12 decent songs on the album with the best being paid my dues, which is a huge-sounding showstopper. The worst track is you'll ... Read the complete review
