'Freak Show' is the 1997 album from the Australian rock band that is Silverchair. The album consists of thirteen tracks; it is the bands second full length release and features such excellent tracks as 'Abuse Me' and 'Freak'. In total four singles were released from this album and it must be said that 'Freak Show' really is a very good release. The album comprises of fifty two minutes of music; most of the thirteen tracks here are powerful grunge anthems and always the sound provided by the band has plenty to offer here. 'Slave' begins this release and certainly doesn't disappoint, the music is well put across by the band and the track provides for four ... Read the complete review

I own all silverchiar's albums, most of their singles, an interview disk and a couple of their live CDs so as you can tell, i'm a pretty BIG fan!! 'Freakshow' is a great cd, but very different to 'frogstomp'. (as 'neon ballroom' is different to 'freakshow', and 'diorama' is different to 'neon ballroom'). 'Freakshow' is a very angry album and has great songs. With depressing lyrics such as, 'in my self-pity i keep falling down' (SLAVE), and 'couldn't care less if i died right now' (NO ASSOCIATION) it is obvious that johns is in a very dark state of mind, and as a result, ... So I eagerly awaited the release of 'Freak Show' hoping to hear a change from the purist grunge of 'Frogstomp'. To say I was dissapointed would be harsh, it would be more accurate to say that although I thought the album was good, I had expected a more artistic album this time. The album is different from the first, heavier and more angry. Like the first it's dripping with the great riffs and catchy tunes that made their ... Read the complete review

Silverchair released Freak Show back in 1997 and upon its release Silverchair went on to be truly recognised as one of the big boys of rock. With the opening track Slave Silverchair showcase a monster riff with hate filled lyrics; this is the theme throughout the album. With song titles such as Slave, Freak, Abuse me, No Association and Learn to hate its obvious that this is going to be an album of angst filled rock. Silverchair do show their mellow side in this album also with songs like Cemetery and Abuse me but the majority of the songs aren't very mellow at all. I would have to recommend this album to everyone, as it’s a superb offering from a truly ... Read the complete review
