Advantages: Fast and coll songs, Great tunes get stuck in your head

Disadvantages: Some songs are not very good and the chili peppers can do better

Freaky, funky and good second album by the red hot chili peppers, this was a better album than the first but they still did better in the future. The album is called Freaky Styley and was made in 1985 one year after there debut album the red hot chili peppers. It also included the original guitarist Hillel Slovak who quit the band before there first album. Every song in the album is fast, funky and rap, most songs are good some could do with some improvement.

I bought this album because I am a huge chili pepper fan, infact I don't like anyone else but the chili peppers. I really liked the album there are a lot of catchy songs and tunes in it, it also has some of there top hits in it. When I first listened to it I loved it because I like funk rock and this album has just that. There are lots of fast bass tunes so if your play the bass then you'll like this. The guitars are good though I think Hillel Slovak is much better than when I heard him play because he does very hard chords and he does them fast, unfortunately he died two years later by taking an overdose on heroin. The drums do what they are suposed to which is make a beat, the drumist is okey but Chad Smith is much better.
The singer Anthony Keidis sounds differant than now, but is still very good.

There are 14 songs and the album last about forty minutes. Some songs are really good some are only there to add more to the album and they only last about thirteen seconds. I am going to go through the songs and tell you what they sound like and what they are about.

1.Jungle Man
This is a good song, it starts of with the drums and bass and then the guitar comes in. The song is about them saying their a jungle man. It is one of their top songs and I love it.

2.Hollywood
The song is about what the title of it is, it is a very good song with a catchy tune. The song is my favoutrite because it has a pumping bass and a good guitar in the chorous, it mostly has th
e bass and the drums in the song.

3.American Ghost Dance
Again bass and drums start it of and then the guitar comes in for the chorous and a solo. It is a good song I listen to this one alot.

4.If You Want Me To Stay
If you want me to stay them do this for me is what the song is basically about. It is a good song but I dont really listen to it.

5.Nevermind
This is probely the best song in the album. It is about the chili peppers sayin nevermind anybody else but us. It was a live favourite and it is a great song.

6.Freaky Styley
This song has a bit of everything in it and is an okey song. I dont really know what it is about.

7.Black Eyed Blonde
Very fast rap, bass, guitar and drums this is an okey song. Most of the time you cant understand what the singer is saying because it is so fast. It is about a black eyed blonde.

8.The Brothers Cup
"We are the broth" sorry I cant get the tune out of my head because this song is great it has fast guitar and heavy guitar in it. The song rocks. I dont really know what it is about probely something about best friends who are like brothers.

9.Battle Ship
Fast and funky again this is an okey song. It is probely about fighting I dont really know.

10.Lovin' and Touchin'
This song only last thirty seconds and it is the only mellow song on the album. I like it and I wish it was a longer song. All the singer says in the song is lovin and touchin.

11.Catholic School Girls Rule
This song is another of their top hits because it is funky and has a great tune. It is about catholic school girls because they rule.

12.Sex Rap
The chili peppers always sing about sex and this song is another. It is fast like battle ship but not as fast. It is an okey song some people will like it because I haven't heard any song that sounds like this.

13Thirty Dirty Birds
This song only last about thir
teen seconds and it is about thirty dirty birds sitting on a wall.

14.Yertle The Turtle
This song proves that the band will always be funky, it is about a turtle called yertle. It is an okey song though I haven't heard it that much.
