Advantages: Not a weak song on the CD

This album is great! There - I've said all you need to know. This is one of THE albums to buy this year.

I've never bought an Ash record before as I always thought their music was just another cog in the indie/pop wheel and no different to lots of other bands around. That was until I heard the debut single from 'Free All Angels'.

'Shining Light' was released what seems like aeons ago (thanks to Radio 1 playing every new single about 6 weeks before its release) to critical acclaim (especially Mark & Lard!). I didn't like it when I first heard it, but it certainly was a grower and is quite simply the best song on this album! But that doesn't mean to say that 'Free All Angels' is a weak album - far from it!

From the opener, 'Walking Barefoot' we are lulled into a false sense of security by it's melodic and quiet opening strains until it kicks in, then it's quickly followed by 'Shining Light' and the 2nd single, 'Burn Baby Burn'. Both total classics already.

'Candy' is next up which features a sample from 'Make it Easy on Yourself' by the Walker Brothers which is interesting! But good.

What follows is essentially an album of singles, as there are no weak songs on this record! The album ends on an anarchic and chaotic note with 'World Domination'. Briliant.

As I said, I've never owned an Ash record before, so I've got nothing to compare it to really, but I am buying their entire back catalogue because if al their albums are as good as this, I can't understand why they're not headling massive stadiums already!

Their time will undoubtedly come. Brillant record - buy it NOW or miss out!!!
