Well I remember those high powered albums of the 70s combining elements of rock with lush classical backings and the spectacular light and sound live shows. I was fortunate to be in the front row at their Newcastle City Hall concert. When a US arena tour was announced I had visions of a full blown reunion tour (after all both Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles have managed it) and I was planning my flights to join in. This was a CD I had to buy ? sound unheard. My initial reaction was that this is a brilliant collection of songs, superbly performed and engineered. The ...

Out Of The Blue - Electric Light Orchestra
Lynne at his most epic (102 words)by - written on 26/10/00

Whoa! If anything Out Of The Blue is a case of too much information. There are seventeen tracks and if you know ELO then you will come to understand that every track sounds like a pop single, and this album is no different. Mr. Blue Sky is obviously the best and deserves to be up there in pop heaven, but the styles and the production values are so ...

Live At Winterland '76 - Electric Light Orchestra

As an ELO fanatic, I bought all their albums, singles - which continued whenever I visited a car boot or specialist record outlet - which even meant importing one of their compilation albums simply called "Collection" from the USA. My reason for mentioning is that this was not one of the one's released during the time they were famous. I found, like many others I expect, that when a group is losing popularity or have stopped recording for a while that the record companies suddenly produce unknown works, or compilations to boost sales. ELO's Live at Winterland '76 was produced in 1998, 9 years after ELO Part 2 were formed - which all leads to the conspiracy ...
