Scottish Clubland Vol. 3Clubbed out (277 words)

The clubland albums are always reliable for some solid dancefloor friendly tunes. They are usually trancey tracks with vocals and are pretty frantic and fuelled with energy. This one has two discs, both packed with tracks. Style of music: Trancey stuff with a pop edge, usually utilising a female vocal. Think Cascada and Ultrabeat and you're on the right track. Album highlights: On the first disc, head for the thumping 'Overload' by Voodoo and Serano, which just builds and builds. Soaring dutch synth riffs meet a feisty female vocal and result in a superb breakdown and a hands-in-the air anthem. For something cheesier check out the 'Fly On The ...

We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank - Modest Mouse
Insane, mad music with jangly guitars but lotsa melody
Sung by a drunk sailor suffering hallucinations
Together We're Heavy - Polyphonic Spree
The Very Best Of - Diana Krall
good compilation album of jazz, great songs picks
compilation of old songs, no new songs
The Doomsday Machine - Arch Enemy
A heavier sound than its predecessor, and the return of great guitars.
Most songs still fail to make the grade, and Gossow is worse here than ever.
The Ethereal Mirror - Cathedral
Progressive touches hint at more interesting directions.
Ineffective mainstream touches weaken the album as a whole.
Nastradamus - Nas
A few big singles
Generally of a lower standard than previous material

Something ever-so-slightly different for gothic metal fans.
