Pre-Natalie Imbruglia and Pre-Illnesses, this album was Sliverchair's debut. And what a debut it is! I do believe that the guys in the band were 15 when this album was recorded which makes this album all the more fantastic! On first listen, you wouldn't guess that Daniel Johns was 15, but he is. So, a buch of kids let loose in a studio with musical instruments, what are they going to sing about? How bad their life is? How poor daddy is? How crap school is? No. Silverchair sing about everything but themselves. My favourite song is "Israel's Son" cos it's just so great! At first, Silverchair were dismissed as a "Nirvana is pyjamas". After all, they are a three piece and the lead singer does have bolnd hair but that's where the comparisons end cos Silverchair are a breed of their own. The best thing to come out of Australia since Kylie Minogue's bottom!
