Downloading music for free on the internet is a contentious subject, and there are many reports that music artists are losing out because of this practice. I have to say in my case, they only lose out if their material is not up to scratch!! I heard an Alkaline Trio track by chance on a music channel about 2 years ago, and rather than be stung for the price of an album without knowing what I was buying, I downloaded some of their tracks, and was an instant fan, and it has now resulted in me buying their back catalogue, seeing them live, and most recently purchasing some DVD?s on Ebay. So downloading is bad, but this band have done well out of it from little old me!! ... Read the complete review

Yes ciao, thats right... a review from me... after weeks of absolutely nothing!! Anyway, to business... Alkaline Trio are a fairly well known and at least equally successful Chicago punk rock band. They have seven albums to date and this one, 'From Here To Infirmary' was their fourth. As the name suggests, the group have three members; Matt Skiba - Vocals, Guitar Dan Adriano - Vocals, Bass Derek Grant - Drums and backing vocals * The catch is that on this album, Derek (the drummer) is replaced by 'Mike Felumlee.' They formed in 1996 and after two years had released their first album 'Goddamnit' which turned about to ... Read the complete review

Alkailine trio are possibly one of the best bands ever created and this album one of the best I own! They are not classed in the pop-punk catagory of music as they have a darker side so instead are punk rock as shown in this quote from the singer and guiatrist, Matt Skiba, at an interview. "There’s definitely a reason we play the kind of music that we do. We offer kids a little darker slice of punk rock. Hopefully it separates us from bands that sing about going to the mall and chewing bubblegum.". They started in 1997 and released the album Goddamnit in 1998 then 1999’s Maybe I’ll Catch Fire. As they did shows, many more kids started showing ... Read the complete review

I recently wrote an opinion on my top ten albums of 2001. Yeah. Forget it. The list of ten, which was actually, er, nine CDs may well have not been written, 'cause I've not only found an album that would slot into any of the ten slots (or indeed the spare one), but renders the list, as scrappily-organised as it was, devoid of any remote order or sorting. The album? Alkaline Trio: From Here To Infirmary. And it's every bit as good as anything released last year. No, seriously. So why the fuss now? And why wasn't it in the list in the first place? Simple - within the aforementioned opinion I did state that I didn't buy many albums last year - and ... Read the complete review

Having bought the album the week it came out i was dying to hear what i had been waiting for, and i was definitley not disappointed. Alkaline Trio one of the hardest working punk bands in the world today, have finally made it to the big time, and it is obvious to see why with this great album. By now you will have probably heard Stupid Kid and/or Private Eye, the 2 releases to date from the album. Stupid kid is simply about childhood crushes, its fast, highly energetic and highly likeable. Private Eye takes a more serious, dark approach but is still as energetic and as good a song as most on the album. My personal favourites on the album are Mr Chainsaw and ... Read the complete review
