... soulful quality. IN my opinion this album is the worst and after this they do get better. This was bound to happen after winning Pop Idol (as there is a lot of pressure for an album to released) and I think this shows heavily in the generic pop songs that over stuff this album. Evergreen isnt the only song that I would skip on this album. 'Anything is possible' is another one. This song sticks tightly to the beats and tempo of traditional pop songs and although Young's voice shows some real promise, the song lets hi...more

Crowned Review From Now On - Will Young: Does Will Light Your Fi-Yer? (1361 words)

For those people who were reading my opinions a year or so ago, you might remember my Pop Idol obsession. I watched every programme, bought the book, the album and went to one of the concerts too. I was a huge Will Young fan. I still am, but with the recent compelling Fame Academy and Popstars – The Rivals series, my attention has been somewhat diverted. I have found that out of the Pop Idols to make it big, my favourite has turned out to be Darius. But I still wanted Will’s album and received it for my birthday a couple of months ago. I usually play CDs pretty much continuously when I first get them, but didn’t find that to be the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review From Now On-Will Young (443 words)

In 2002 British singer Will Young became the winner of Pop Idol. Soon, his debut single "Anything Is Possible/Evergreen," released on February 25, 2002, became the fastest-selling single in the U.K. Of course this doesn't mean it's any good. In fact, other than Will Young's voice being really lovely, the song (lyrically and musically) is poor. Although I am not a fan of Young's, my mother is so I will try to be kind about him. As a person I find him to be really interesting and I believe that he is genuinely a nice bloke (or at least that's how he comes across in interviews). I also do really like his voice, which has a really innocent soulful ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review From Now On - Will Young: A Brilliant debut! (602 words)
by - written on 06/06/09 (Very useful, 4 readings)
Rating:

Knowing what we know now, Will Young is one of the most successful male solo artists of this decade by far none. After winning that famous talent show on ITV seven years ago Will Young has had an impressive string of top 10 singles and successful albums. From Now On, is his brilliant debut album that contained within a variety of No1 hit singles and some original material which at the time was above the norm standards of reality TV winners of Hearsay alike. We all know Simon Cowell didn't want Young to win, and choosing Evergreen as the lead single was showing of that although Will's upset meant he wasnt suited to Evergreen, it isn't the best match of artist ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Best Winners album - Pop Idol WINNER Album 2002 (779 words)
by - written on 07/11/08 (Very useful, 78 readings)
Rating:

Will Young beating Gareth Gates in 2002 in Pop Idol was one of my TV highlights for that particular year, the fact that people where able to detect that Will was a technically better singer than Gareth and voted for a brillant soul crooner who has throughout the years showcased his many talents and personality through a successful music career selling over 8 million records in just the UK and releasing a new album Let It Go (out now) that is selling well. When Young won in Febuary 2002, Simon Cowell appeared confused he clearly had a goal and a plan for Gareth and Darius but not for Will. They enlisted the help of Burt Bacharach and Cathy Dennis and bought in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review From Now On - Will Young: This Album Shows Anything Is Possible (1722 words)

Rating:

Will Young the winner of Pop Idol 2002 released the anticipated debut album recently and I had to get a copy to see what kind of music he had done. The best thing about this album is that Will has kept to the style of music he is best at all the way through the album. Even though it was'Pop' Idol, his music is more mature and much better than pop. In my opinion he is much more talented than Gareth but if you like Gareth better that is your opinion just please don't leave comments saying you think Gareth is better than Will. This album includes the best selling number 1 debut singles Evergreen, Anything Is Possible, Light My Fire and You & I. ...  Read the complete review
