Advantages: A few cracking hits
Disadvantages: Too much wailing going on
Due to the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed Kultur Shock's later albums in particular We Came To Take Your Jobs Away, I automatically assumed I'd fall head over heels with their earliest studio album Fucc The INSS.
This was not so, there was no lack of energy and it was as bubby as ever but the tracks seemed a bit more folkier than the fusion of punk rock you get on later albums, a good example of this is the song "Seamstress", Kultur Shock came together and started to play originally as a joke and I think it's still quite visible on this album. It sounds like they've recorded it in a mosque come disco club and Gino's usually varied vocals are limited to an unimpressive wailing of a Balkan sound.
The "Delhi belly" wail is so prevelant that it could easily jar the listeners nerves, the sound is not so omni-present on other albums. Chororo and Radio Gitana I find to be particular let downs, a few times the band venture in to throwing in some electronic music - particularly on "Montenegro H.C." - this doesn't work and I'm not at all surprised they opted against it in future work.
The lyrics are still humorous when they can be understood and in true gypsy punk fashion there's no attempt to be grammatically correct in English. The jazzy guitar solos early on are definitely the most desirable thing on this album as well as the excellent folk punk track that is Mastika.
