Advantages: Great if you've seen the film

Disadvantages: Some dubious tracks

There are several songs on here that I wouldn't usually give the time of day to, but as the soundtrack to "The Full Monty" they work really well, so I do sometimes find myself playing this. It serves mainly as a reminder of the film, of course, so that I tend to enjoy Donna Summer's "Hot stuff" because I think of the scenes where they are practising their moves in the DSS Office. Tom Jones' 1996 recording "You can leave your hat on", is always going to be associated with the film, and strippers in general, too. Great stuff.
Let's assess the album on musical terms though. Hot Chocolate's "You sexy thing" and Cockney Rebel's "Make me smile" and Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll part 2" sound as good as they did in the early 70s. Wilson Pickett's "Land of 1,000 dances" is the only real classic on here, though.
The M People track "Moving on up" sounds very out of place on here - wrong era, wrong everything. Can you tell it's not a personal favourite of mine? But, with songs like this, and "Flashdance" as well, the feel is very much get-up-and-dance, which is fine with me, even if I wouldn't rave about the songs individually.
Good to hear "The Stripper" on the end, too - it's not often Joe Loss gets to appear on a pop compilation.

Very good opinion - I agree that the soundtrack is better than the sum of its individual songs. Good background music for driving or for parties...
