... listing is: Horse And I (3.04)- as far as opening tracks are concerned, this is definitely one of my favourites. It is completely unique and I'm not even going to pretend what half of the instruments are. Definitely spectacular but not my favourite track on the album. Fantastic lyrics though- they are more synonymous with poetry in my opinion :) Trophy (4.01)- LOVE this song! I have heard two versions of it but this is by far the better one. There is a great emphasis on minimalism- the singing takes priority. If y...more

Premium Review Fur And Gold - Bat For Lashes: We're dancers in the dark! (544 words)

Bat For Lashes is the brainchild of Natasha Khan, an Anglo-Pakistani woman from Brighton. Formed during her stint working as a primary school teacher, Bat For Lashes has been likened to Kate Bush, PJ Harvey and Fiona Apple although I would hesistate to include the last two in my list of similarities. However, if you have a fondness for Kate Bush then you might really enjoy the whimsical, eclectic charm of Bat For Lashes. Fur and Gold was first released in September 2006 and was later nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize (although it unfortunately didn't win it). At a total running time of under 1 hour, it is definitely easy to listen to. This album does ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Brighton Bat (618 words)

Bat For Lashes is a musical project of Brighton's singer-songwriter Natasha Khan, a female artist who has here chosen to create music that atmospheric and emotional. This doesn't feel like the best that Natasha Khan can offer, as atmospheric and ...  Read the complete review

the cover of the album and the name of the band really doesnt give away much for this band. theyre a relatively unknown band and dont really have a 'definitive' track that they will be known for. they arent really in a particular genre as their music is new and diffrent. the lead singer has a fantastic voice and along with some great lyrics and good instrumental accompinaments it makes this album a really good listen. my favourite songs will have to be horse and i and prescilla. though all the songs on the album are good. if your looking to extend your music tastes and try something new or liek this type of music already then this album is definately for you. i think in ...  Read the complete review
