Jimmy Eat World formed way back in 1993, however it was not until some years later that they'd become the household name that they are today. They started out small, releasing their first album in 1994 through Wooden Blue Records; it was aptly titled simply 'Jimmy Eat World'. Doesn't appear as though they were awfully creative in their early days then but there you go, they were shortly after snapped up by Capitol and in 1996 released their first album through them, 'Static Prevails'. 'Futures' was their fifth studio album and was released in the year 2004, it has to date sold over 607 000 copies in the U.S. alone and has therefore secured 'Gold' status. ... JIMMY EAT WORLD FUTURES 2004 ----------------------------- Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that nobody knew for years then suddenly they have a breakthrough album and suddenly they are in everyone’s cd collection. Well they are back again with a new album, and a bit of a new sound. The band formed way back in 1993, and did some tours released some Ep’s and just generally gained a small fan base. In 1994 they released their debut album, which was self titled and released on a small Indie label. After this the band was quickly signed up to Capitol Records, and released second album ‘Static Prevails’ in ... Read the complete review

Opening with a blistering title track, 'Futures' shows that Jimmy East World had matured considerably from their first album 'Bleed American' and while this album moves on from the admittedly poppy sound of the earlier release, the lyrics and the involvement of the band is no less heartfelt. While this release perhaps lacks some of the single quality tracks of 'Bleed American', it was widely received by their fans and managed to sell over 500,000 copies, garnering the group a gold disc for sales. Very much like standout track 'Get it Faster' from their first album, 'Futures' conveys a real sense of menace. Aggressive guitar backing, feedback and a sound ... Read the complete review

Jim Adkins is the vocalist and lead guitarist of the Jimmy Eat World, with Tom Linton on Rhythm guitar. Rick Burch is on bass. Zach Lind keeps the smashing beats on drums. Futures is their fifth studio album. There is a good mixture of songs on this album, some songs are fast and some are slow, but all seem to have a lot of thought and passion behind them. 'Futures', 'Pain' & '23' my favourites on the album, with 'Drugs Or Me' & 'Polaris' being my least favourites. This album is a must for every music fan. It album kicks off with the title song. 'Futures' is loud. It's a strong start to the album, it's catchy and generally a good track. ... Read the complete review

Futures was the fifth studio album from the American rock band jimmy eat world. The album is perhaps a bit more well crafted than some of their older ones but I felt that in all this album didn't contain enough great songs to make it a hit album. The first track off the album, is the album titled futures. Its quite a good fast rock song, a kind of different style to what iv heard them do before, his singing sounds different but perhaps its just his voice developing slightly over time. Over all this is a good song, fast in parts but too slow in others. Pain is the biggest song off this album, the highest charting single and the song which sold the ... Read the complete review
