Released on the 20th May 1996 ?Fuzzy Logic? is the debut album of the Welsh band Super Furry Animals (SFA). For those of you who not familiar with the band they consist of Gruff Rhys - Lead Singer/Guitar Huw Bunford - Guitar Guto Price - Bass Guitar Dafydd Ieuan - Drums Cian Ciaran - Keyboard/Electronics Before I move onto the album I will give you a little information on the band and their history. Originally formed in the early 1990?s SFA toured the north coast of France as a techno outfit. It wasn?t until 1995 that they started to play more guitar-based music and they finally signed to the famous Welsh indie band label Ankst. They ... Read the complete review

I have recently renewed my acquaintance with the Super Furry Animals following the release of their Greatest Hits collection. So as soon as I discovered just how much of their work I was familiar with I decided to obtain copies of the earlier albums. The first of those earlier releases was 1996’s Fuzzy Logic. The band’s debut album that started them down the road to musical success. Although many may argue at times it’s more like musical obscurity. They were signed up to the same label as Oasis by Alan McGee before recording this album. The band formed in 1993 following the split up of a couple of Cardiff’s underground techno and rock bands. The members of a ... Read the complete review

Fuzzy logic was one of the best albums to come out of 1996. Super furry animals burst out from nowhere to give us a very raw yet accomplished long player. Starting with 'God! show me magic', the band give an instant demonstration of what is to come with a crushing sound. The listener is then greeted with a number of tracks with a very melodic theme, with intelligent lyrics; almost perfect pop songs. Only almost perfect, as the tracks here display a seedy undercurrent, borne out in the lyrics to the best song on the album, 'marid man'. The album also has one of the best sleeve covers around, with a collage of pictures of the ... Read the complete review

This is an album that starts off well with the admirable ‘Show me Magic’ which is a catchy, lively number with recognisable rhythms and strong guitar riffs. The next track ‘Fuzzy Birds’ is quite a humorous one based upon a dream about a hamster being wired to the mains and turned into a dynamo! This is one of the collections star numbers… ‘Gathering Moss’ is a slower song and this also reflects the mood of the track lyrics which speak of the inevitability of life, the things that will happen whether we like it or not perhaps in a relationship or maybe out of one. I guess it is a little bit like growing old….. ... Read the complete review

Super Furry animals uncoventional approach to music is epitomised here in the timeless Fuzzy Logic. Gruff Rhys syrupy, slurring vocals a pin point in their success are at their optimum on this album. Scaling the scales, grunts growls squeals. This album has it all and thats only the first song. "God! Show me magic" is the perfect livewire entrance for any album. Adverse effetcs drag you into the Fuzzy Logic feeling and you dont want to leave. Sfa's music is always so full of energy with so much happening at one time in every song. Again in their typical vigour they seem to pour energy into one song then they calm the mood down before exploding into ... Read the complete review
