G.I. Blues - Elvis Presley

G.I. Blues was the first Elvis movie released after his discharge from the army in 1960 and cashed in on Elvis' army career as it starred him as a US army recruit. This CD features lots of songs from the movie, which is one of my Elvis favourites. The best version of the CD released to date is the one released in 1997 which features the original songs plus a number of alternate tracks. A couple of songs from this album features at my recent wedding - 'Shoppin' Around' was one of the songs played as guests entered as it features the lyrics "I'm gonna stop shoppin' around 'cos I've found the girlie I'm looking for" which was quite apt. In 1960 a brown parcel arrived at our house addressed to my 13 ½ year old sister . No-one in the family , apart from my sister, knew what it contained .We sat at the living room table and she opened it .Bursting with curiosity we all watched . It contained an official letter from the Elvis Presley fan club stating that , my sister was now a fully paid-up member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club .
