 ... Likewise the lively fun that can be taken from "Gipsy Star" by Frissons is also pleasant. There's some well known numbers in there least not Ioan's version of "Camera" and a handful of tracks which are happy party numbers without really ever imprinting themselves on your memory. The songs suit nicely to the film but as a soundtrack on its own it doesn't stand out as particularly superb and perhaps the thing that lets it down is that none of the singers stand out as being amazingly talented. This album is the soundtrack to the 1997 film in which a French gypsy visits Romania in order to look for the singer that his father listened to. The album being a soundtrack is very much a mixed bag,a joyful ride where you think you'll fall off the cliff at times (there are a few songs I'm not keen on) mostly involving the shrilling voice of Monika Juhasz Miczura that puts a dampener on things, cimbalom and strings add a sense of sadness to the song "Nora Luca" contrasting the upbeat more typical Turkish-flavoured Balkan style of Adrian Simonescu.
