This album is the soundtrack to the 1997 film in which a French gypsy visits Romania in order to look for the singer that his father listened to. The album being a soundtrack is very much a mixed bag,a joyful ride where you think you'll fall off the cliff at times (there are a few songs I'm not keen on) mostly involving the shrilling voice of Monika Juhasz Miczura that puts a dampener on things, cimbalom and strings add a sense of sadness to the song "Nora Luca" contrasting the upbeat more typical Turkish-flavoured Balkan style of Adrian Simonescu. Likewise the lively fun that can be taken from "Gipsy Star" by Frissons is also pleasant. ... Read the complete review
