Well this Metallica album is Metallica at their best. They started off playing cover versions of classic songs from the likes of Motorhead, Black Sabbath, White Lightning etc. In this new release they have actually re-released the first Garage album they produced with some absolutly rocking tunes, that still sound absolutely head bangingly good. The first CD however contains some new cover versions including my favourite tunes of this album. The classic old folk song Whiskey in the Jar first taken to rock heights by Thin Lizzy, now made even heavier by Metallica, superb. Also Astronomy is a classic rock song, but given the Metallica twist its simply ... Read the complete review

i 've got most of there albums and this is one of the best ones. it has two cd's (which is a bonus ) and there are several songs on there which totaly rule. plus it's really worth it's price and it's one of these ones that you could listen to over and over again. compared to the other cd's it has a variaty of great songs on there but it's fair share of songs that i'd never heard of which proved to be just as good . ... Back before the release of the '...And Justice For All' album, the band bought in bassist Jason Newsted to replace the late Cliff Burton, and so to break the new member in without burdening him with a new album to contend with straight away, the band decided to record an E.P. of selected covers that the band grew and weened on to form their own template. It was called 'Garage Days Re-Revisited: The $5.98 E.P.' (so presumably retailers couldn't rip kids off). After a while though however, the CD was deleted as it ended up not being a 'proper' Metallica release, but collectors were still hungry for it, sprawling seedy CD shops just to find a ... "Tonight Only the Metallicats" As one of the biggest metal bands to come out of the U.S. Metallica have enjoyed an incredible career spanning all the way back to the start of the 80's, and have helped to bring the rock scene forward into the lives of a huge number of people. Originally when the band first started out as with most bands they would play a large collection of cover songs lucky for them the bands that band members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich liked were largely unknown British New Wave Heavy Metal bands that your average American listener would never have heard of. This meant that they could largely pass a lot of the songs off as their ... Read the complete review

Yes I am!!! lol!!! Wow! What an album! Easily the BEST covers album around..definately! I'm not being biased, but, it really could be one of the best examples of the 'real' Metallica, and not the 'watered down' version of what we are getting nowadays, not that I don't like load/re-load, I do, but give me the old Metallica anyday... ....And that's exactly what they give you here! It's a funny album, cos' I always have a fave song, but I can't choose on this one, I really love them all!!! There is a good choice, some real heavy stuff, e.g; Am I evil?, Blitzcrieg, So what? (This is a great one to put on for ... Read the complete review
