 ... polished vocals (not that you could ever call Ian Brown's vocals polished!), and "This is the one" has whispered vocals, with the lyrics more prominent and easy to hear, and backing vocals not so strong as they would be on the later version. This song is my all-time favourite from the Roses, and I do enjoy listening to this formative version - it's such a classic song that any version of it would be worth hearing from my point of view. Originally intended to be the Stone Roses' debut album, but shelved, "Garage flower" finally got its release much later. When you hear it you can tell why it wasn't released in this form - it's frankly very substandard if you compare it to the album that was eventually released as the debut, "Stone Roses". That's not to say it's not worth listening to, though. A couple of the songs re-emerged on the "Stone Roses" album - "I wanna be adored" and "This is the one".
