... more. William Orbit tries his hand at rejigging Barber's 'Adagio For Strings,' which is handled very well, thanks to a super remix from Ferry Corsten. The merging of classic and trance is a winner and the result quite majestic. Hitting the second disc, check out Chakra's powerful yet warming vocals on 'Home' before exploring Push's 'Strange World.' Push manages to create an icy cool melody which verges on the progressive, while still keeping you nodding along. Veracocha's 'Carte Blanche' is a belter, with one of the ...more

Premium Review Gatecrasher's Trance Anthems (1993 - 2009): Gatecrashing! (783 words)

Rating:

Say Gatecrasher to anyone who is serious about clubbing and you will get gasps and breaths of euphoric pleasure. That is essentially what Gatecrasher is all about. Uplifting trance music, for the glowstick generation. There are three discs here and 49 tracks, collecting some of the biggest trance anthems from 1993 through to 2009. I recommend 'Love Stimulation' by Humate, which is a trippy, vivid synth workout, which seems to take you on a journey to far off lands. Excellent tracks, not too commercial. Shame the series has declined.

catchy stuff samey

16 songs some songs left off

Very strong, consistent album, stuffed with big guest stars A couple of weaker links, may have short-term appeal

Vanity/Nemesis - Celtic Frost
Return to form. Little stands out.

Stockholm Knockout Live - Children of Bodom
Roughly even coverage of studio material. Lacklustre performance, and past the band's prime.

Searching For The Hows And Whys - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly
sounds the same as last album but with a more upbeat tracks may not be to every ones taste tacks renmed off of b-sides

Monotheist - Celtic Frost
Brilliantly crafted, atmospheric, engaging and hugely memorable None

Into The Pandemonium - Celtic Frost
Some successful experiments. Some really bad experiments.

Hate Crew Deathroll - Children Of Bodom
Clings on to the old Bodom magic. Disappointing departure from the classic sound.

Fears In The Water - The Vincent Black Shadow
The vocals are excellent, the guitars possess great power. Too many of the tracks here are incredibly instrumentally repetitive.

Cold Lake - Celtic Frost
Not quite as bad as I expected. Weak, repetitive and pointless.
