The latest album from The Beautiful South is their tenth, in a career, which spans some fifteen years. The lead singer, Paul Heaton, enjoyed chart success as part of The Housemartins for a few years before, with the mid-1980s producing such hits as Happy Hour, Build and Caravan of Love. The Beautiful South is one of the few bands that I will buy an album of, even if I haven’t heard any of the tracks. Both my husband and I love their music and the kids enjoy some of it too. So this is Gaze?. First of all, due to the fact Gaze is not up here on Dooyoo (Why?) I ahve had to put the review here. Until It's moved, I'm busted or Gaze appears I shall leave it here. I thought after Painting it Red the Beautiful South had took themselves too a point where as they were there wasn?t any room for improvement. It was and still is a 5 star album. On hearing that they had recorded Gaze I was sceptical, what could they do? How else could they subtly reinvent that South sound, after all PIR was a culmination of beautiful production, master song writing and great tunes. It had evolved over time from the previous ...
