Genesis Live - Genesis

Never has releasing a live album made more sense for a band than it did for Genesis in 1973. For a start this was the 70s and therefore releasing live albums was very much in fashion. Secondly Genesis had built their reputation and a large portion of their success on a visually mindblowing live show involving awesome musicianship and Peter Gabriel, their lead singer, in an array of spectacular and outrageous costumes. It all started when I realised that the book I was reading (The Rotters' Club) began in the same year that Tubular Bells, which I was also planning to review, was released (1973). A light-bulb lit up in my head - what other 'products' from 1973 are listed on DooYoo I wondered? So I did a search and found this... In 1973 Genesis were a progressive-art rock group unlike anything before or since. There ,usic veered toward the classical and there lyrics were very British in their humour. Peter Gabriel was into weird costumes and Genesis live was something of an event on the concert circuit.
