This album from 'Jet' came out back in 2003. This Australian outfit burst onto the scene with some big sounding songs. I really liked them, bought the album and I do really like it. I thought they would go on to bigger and better things. It does not seem to have quite worked out for them. But this album is a good one. Here is what I make of the songs: 1. Last Chance - Quite a short little burst, nothing special, but an ok start. 7/10 2. Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Brilliant. The most well known song on the album. 'She's so sweet with her get back stare!!' Good line. Really good song that rocks big time! 10/10 3. Roll Over DJ - ... Read the complete review

For those who don't know, or simply didn't care enough to find out, Jet are a group that actually bear much resemblance to AC/DC, on paper anyway. Both hail from Australia, yet at least one member actually claims to have family roots here in Scotland, both have members that wear leather jackets, and both play lyrically light blues inspired-rock and roll. Comprising of guitarist/vocalist Cameron Muncey,vocalist/guitarist Nic Cester, his brother Chris on the drums and Mark Wilson on the bass, the group made waves in the UK with the aforementioned hit single after it was used in a Vodafone advert, and arrived just in time to coincide with the entire garage rock revival, ... "I couldn't stand stuff like Nirvana and Pearl Jam....to me that was real slit wrists music." ~ Nic Cester This sums up what Jet are all about; they don't make moody, angst ridden grunge far from it. Describing the rise of grunge as their "worst nightmare". They have brought back proper rock'n'roll. Growing up in Melbourne, the band are a four piece made up of Nic Cester on guitar and vocals, Chris Cester on drums, Cameron Muncey on guitar and Mark Wilson on bass. They have been influenced by the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, T-Rex and The Faces. Their passion for good old rock and roll shines through in their debut album "Get ... Here is another CD that won the sympathy vote; it only had one review and I have always thought (and said at every opportunity) that every CD deserves more than one. I also feel that you deserve my deepest sympathy for yet again being subjected to my dire taste in titles. Perhaps there is some sort of counselling available for this condition. I bought this CD at Tower Records along with Funeral for a Friend, and so I mentally block these 2 CDs together though they are in fact completely different. Such are the workings of the human brain. This review is partly to evaluate in my own ... Read the complete review

Im sure Jet get fed up with being constantly compared to other bands by every critic around, especially the NME! But the bands to which they are compared are of such class that, maybe it isnt just a comparison, but a very high accalaide? It is hard writing about them without doing so in terms of how their music is influenced by such artists as the Stones, AC/DC, pink floyd and the like. The 4 piece from Melbourne, consisting of Nic Cester (vocals/guitar), Cameron Muncey (guitar), Chris Cester (drums), Mark Wilson (bass), encompass all that is, and was, rock and roll. this is the band The Darkness could have been, had they not turned out to be shite. So, its ... Read the complete review
