Reef up and Away (Getaway - Reef)
Member Name: nigelpm
Advantages: Classic Riffs, good guitar work Disadvantages: not their best
Getaway is Reef's fourth album and includes the top ten hit 'Set the Record Straight'. 'Getaway' is not like any other reef album; its production is much tighter and far more pop based. This has benefits but may equally disappoint fans. There are the trademark riffs on tracks like 'Solid' and 'Hold On'. The fifth track 'All I Want' is a mellow number and shows that Gary can sing without the famous rough tones. There's a lot of good guitar work from Kenywn on 'Getaway' and he's mixed his styles up well with some heavy rock on 'Saturday' and classical/jazz type on 'Levels'. The final track 'Do not know what they will do' is very raw and probably the closest to any earlier reef songs. A very good album although may disappoint if you expect it to sound like their earlier albums. Summary: |
