~*~* Introduction ~*~*

Husky Rescue are musical painters...with their previous music in "Country Falls" (see my other review) they created dreams of cotton clouds, gasoline girls and summertime cowboys rejoicing in the wonders of the short-lived Finnish summers. Now, with "Ghost Is Not Real" it could be argued that they've fallen off the clouds and landed within the deep and mysterious Finnish forest, which creates just as interesting music. For instance, if I was at home looking outside of my window at trees in the rain, that would be all I see. But here, in Finland, looking outside of this window at the forest listening to Husky Rescue, hearing Reeta-Leena's vocals, the world seems so much more enchanting.

~* ~* Track Listings ~* ~*

1- My Home Ghost- 9/10
I can't think of any female artist who has such a soothing voice as Husky Rescue's leading lady. Although the lyrics have got darker and it creates the impression of the long, dark Finnish winter, this actually has the typical calming and mellow sound of the band.

2-Diamonds In The Sky- 8/10
It's not long before Husky Rescue bring us back to summer. Or what Finnish summer should be anyway. By this point on the album, they already have you eyes-closed and your mind firmly in the sky. Excellent use of percussion.

3- Nightless Nights- 10/10
Here is a song which echoes the creative brilliance of the first album. Cheeky, playful lyrics combined with imagery of the true nightless nights and the utter joy that this brings among those who experience it. You won't be able to stop your mind from dancing around the trees!

4/5/6-Blueberry Tree (in three parts) 9/10
This is a musical canvas of all things Nordic summer. Full of butterflies, waterfalls, paper angels, dragonflies, crystal fountains to name just a few...let Husky Rescue take you with their sweet melodies through the joyful fountains. Part three is a fantastic instrumental where you have no choice but to let go and flow with your imagination..

7-Hurricane (Don't come knocking.) 8/10
Don't you just love Finnish nature?...hang on hurricanes? I touch wood, but it looks like we've left Finland and moved into a much darker place. Rather odd lyrics but wonderful all the same.

8-Silent Woods- 8/10
Have you noticed the theme yet? Winter is now creeping up on us in this album. Touching lyrics, "silent dreams, deep sleep sweet friend, let's hug when it's spring again." And of course there's the enchanting music and sound effects.

9-Shadow Run- 8/10
A very interesting perspective about the winter and living in the darkness. Reeta-Leena's vocal style is different here as she is almost just talking.

10-Caravan- 9/10
Again, fantastic. With all the positives of the others, this song really does the album justice as an ending for this album's forest adventures.

~*~* Summary ~* ~*

There's not much more I can really say about this album without repeating myself. If you need more of an idea, look up the words "wonderful" and "dream" in the thesaurus. Not so light hearted as the previous album (and in my opinion slightly not as good), Husky Rescue have developed this deeper, more mature sound. However, it still has the guarantee of sending your mind elsewhere when you're having "one of those days" or even when you're not.

Summary: Let your mind go for a wander through the Finnish forest with Husky Rescue!
