Advantages: relaxing rock

Disadvantages: not revolutinary like Screamadelica

This album released in about 1995 has been slated many times for being such a step back from Screamadelica, not as good as Vanishing Point blah, blah, blah. I however believe that if you bother to listen to it properly, it is a good although not excellent album in its own right.

Its a good album to sit down to relax to on the whole although Rocks and Jailbird at the beginning are pretty rousing rock numbers. The rest of the album is split into funky numbers assisted by funk guru George Clinton (of which "Give out but don't give up" stands out with a good vocal and interesting organ work) and more soulful numbers assisted by Denise Johnson.

The way the album sounds (ie 1970s Rolling Stones) is not surprising given that the legendary Stones producer Jimmy Miller is at the helm and on listening to the Jimmy Miller produced songs on Screamadelica (as opposed to Andrew Weatherall's more dance/dub production).

I actually believe that although Screamadelica is Primal Scream's finest hour, this album must be the best thing the band have done since.
