Chamber Music - Coal Chamber

Premium Review A little unkown gem (258 words)

Back in ’97 ‘spookycore’ kids Coal Chamber were one of the first bands to jump on the nu-metal bandwagon. Their cartoon-goth image made them a love/hate band but still dancefloor/moshpit driven anthems such as ‘Loco’ and ‘Sway’ saw them win Kerrang’s best new band 1997 poll (putting them on a par with KoRn (’96), System of a Down (’98) and their future labelmates Slipknot (’99)). With the proliferation of nu-metal acts flooding the market, however, Coal Chamber opted for a more ‘mature’ sophomore album (‘Chamber Music’), which flopped rather badly. For my money, it’s ...
