Advantages: great melodies
Disadvantages: won't appeal to all
Bran Van 3000 are a group from Montreal in Canada who create a form of techno, Drum&Base with beautiful melodies and other voices and samples. They hit success with the track 'Drinking in LA'. The CD is great. You are led on an almost seemless musical journey by this merry band of Canadians who have touching stories to tell set with various kinds of music and melodies that suck you in and leave you wanting more. I will now write about my favourite tracks. 'Problems' has such a tasty beat, you wish it was a little longer. 'Everywhere' is one of the most beautiful and honest love ballads I've ever heard, sung by one of the 3 sassy gals in the group, Jayne, who also wrote it. The track 'Couch Surfer' will put a smile on your face. 'Drinking in L.A' is also a comical song about alcoholic wanna-be young filmmakers in L.A. told very sarcastically and uncannily as if they experienced the whole lifestyle firsthand. It's also one of their only songs that gets heard in the UK, which is a real shame! There's something for everyone on this CD, so my advice to you is to get it straight away especcially if you liked drinking in LA. You will not be disappointed.
