By now, we?ve all heard the story about Mariah?s meltdown in 2001, with the story behind it being told and re-told and altered, reasons ranging from work overload to her movie (also called Glitter) flopping to her break-up with Latin singing sensation Luis Miguel to Mariah developing erectile dysfunction. (Poor thing.) Whatever the case, all the stress plaguing her must have contributed to what this album turned out to be. While not explicitly bad by any standards, saved by her surprisingly sparse, great ballads and 80?s-drenched sounds, Mariah fell victim to what plagues so much music today: guest rapper overkill. Four out of Glitter?s twelve tracks are ... Read the complete review

'GLITTER' (2001) ALBUM REVIEW Track by track review: Loverboy Remix Written by: Mariah Carey, Larry Blackmon, Thomas Jenkins, Da Brat, Ludacris, Twenty II, Shawnna. The sleeve gives credit to the song 'Candy' by L. Blackmon and T. Jenkins All Seeing Eye Music courtesy Universal Music Enterprises which is used as a sample(s) by Mariah. The track starts with a real party atmosphere with some phat kick drum and assorted percussion. The various guests sort themselves out with some introductory party shouts. After a few moments the main rhythm begins with a really unusual (for Mariah) heavy, funky, bass guitar and ... Read the complete review

Poor Mariah. 2001 really wasn't her year- what with the breakdown and all. This album is the soundtrack to the awful movie she starred in (also called "Glitter"), and it's definetly not Mariah's best work... LOVERBOY (Remix) Ouch! A terrible first song! Mariah has surrounded herself with half a dozen mad rappers and basically ruined a sample of Cameo's "Candy". Possibly the worst song of 2001, and definetly the worst Mariah song ever! The vocals are all over the place and have no meaning! LEAD THE WAY Thank god! After 4 minutes of hell, you can breath again with a typical Mariah ballad "Lead The ... Read the complete review

It’s Mariah’s tenth album and what an album it is!! Not only is she one of the most talented female artist around, but she’s also into double figure with her albums. She’s had the most number ones ever! The longest number one ever and the most album to reach number ever! She is an all round superstar. Yet again she comes in with another album, this album being extra special coz it’s the soundtrack to her debut film ‘Glitter’ I haven’t seen it yet but as usual the newspapers have slagged it off. But I don’t listen to them I’ll see it for myself and let you know! So she’s on her tenth ... Read the complete review

Any girl who can sing so high that her voice resembles a whistle is a hell of an act in my book, and therefore I've chosen to have a look at "Glitter" by Mariah Carey. More than the fact that the woman is gorgeous, she can also belt out a few numbers too. Glitter strangley enough was released on September 11 2001, not a lucky day to have brought it out. With 12 new tracks Mariah ranges from R n B, to pop, to love ballad to a bit of dance, A nice range of music even though you'll scratch your head at how different a few of the songs on this album are. The first track that was released as a single from the album was the catchy little ditty ... Read the complete review
