Advantages: Some good rock tracks and some good ballads too

Disadvantages: Not as good quality as Live Era

I'm sure that since Live Era was released in the early months of this year that a lot of people are comparing it to Lies. This is very unfair seeing as Lies represents the bands early phase long before they recorded the Use Your Illusion albums. Live Era is all about big hit songs performed in front of huge audiences mainly on their Illusion tours but Lies is about pure rock made in the bands early days.
Lies only has 8 tracks, 4 from 1986 and 4 from 1988but these are more than enough to get a taste of what the band is like live. Reckless Life and Nice Boys are two loud and fats songs with Axl's usual whining. They are good though. Move to the City is maybe the one that stands out from the rest as having a different feel to it, its more bluesy and jazz like than others. One in a Million and Patience or two good slow achoustic songs which show there is more to the band than loud, fast rock.
If your a big Guns and Roses fan then this is one to buy pretty quickly but if you've only heard their later material from Live Era or the illusion albums you might be surprised.
