Housework Songs Vol.1
by AJ26 - written on 08/03/06 (Very useful, 2177 readings)
Rating:
Housework Songs is a double CD compilation album. The idea is that these songs are all suitable to listen to whilst doing the housework so easing the load and making the dutiful chores a little more enjoyable. On the front cover is a picture of a woman (rather sexist, men do the housework too! At least they do in my house!) singing into her vacuum cleaner. There are 41 songs on the album and there is a good mixture with something for everyone. We have songs from the 1960s including "Pretty Woman", and "Respect", in the 1970s we have "You Sexy Thing" and "American Pie", the 1980s gives us "Fame" and "I Think We're Alone Now", the ...

Housework Songs Vol.1

Rating:
I stumbled across 'Housework Songs' at amazon and bought it as a tongue-in-cheek present for a friend who got married. But then I wanted to keep it! This two-cd box just has every song I'd ever want to sing along to while vacuuming, dusting or really even just sitting at my computer writing this. This cd is very diverse in terms of eras: from the Sixties e.g. Monkees and the Beach Boys via Diana Ross, Irene Cara and Tiffany to Katie Melua, Jamelia and Kylie Minogue. It's also fairly diverse in music styles, as the above list shows although it's all pretty 'easy listening', or 'easy sing-along-able' as the case may be. Most of the songs are toe-tapping and upbeat, obviously to keep you ...

Betty Blue - Soundtrack

I have to make an admission before I start and say I don't actually own this CD but the vinyl version of it - If you don't know what that is, ask your mum or dad :-). I don't think it will make much difference to the review as the tracks listing is identical, as is the front cover. What this shows though, is that this has been around a long time! (Yes, OK, so have I …) When the film came out in 1986, it was a bit of a cult film in France, and probably elsewhere too. I will not review it on this site as others have done a far better job than I ever could. Let's just say I saw it many times at the cinema, on video and on TV. I owned the full size theatrical poster for a while, but ...

Sophisticated death metal based in the traditional Florida style.
Tends towards similarity.

Creative and extremely compelling death metal.
Diversity means that listeners may not enjoy everything.

Ambitious mix of styles that work excellently together.
Occasionally fails to cohere.
Renegade - HammerFall
A good slow song, and some catchy choruses.
Mostly a less exciting version of its predecessors.
Rheingold - Grave Digger
Great use of orchestration to supplement, great heavy metal songs.
Some riffs are very generic.
Excalibur - Grave Digger
Mature perfection of the Grave Digger style.
Not as frantic or adventurous as some earlier offerings.

Strong title track.
Average re-workings of weaker old material.

Softer, slower and less exciting than previous albums.

Developed and distinctive direction.
Some songs still sound average.

Achieves nothing new.
