Blue - The Mission
'I'm just doin' the best I can - but I'm not ... (538 words)by - written on 19/05/01
Rating:
According to The press release, one will find the quote of "setting a deadline to record the album in eight weeks", is very obvious. Very little time seems to have been spent on the production of this album - a pity really, as it does contain some of Hussey's better songs. Only one track from "Blue" has decent production work, that track being the emotive "That Tears Shall Drown The Wind". Like The Mission's earlier "Masque" album, it might have been (possibly) a more wiser move if "Blue" was released as the first much threatened solo album from Mr Hussey (how many albums has Hussey written that ended up as ...

Masque - The Mission

Rating:
that they can create any kind of music they want without sound superficial or just for being influenced by whatīs "hip" at the moment. I have all the records by The Mission and in every one or them I can find surprises. My oppinion is that their music is out of this world!!! Unfortunately this recording was misunderstood and underrated by people who are narrow-minded and didnīt want to change their habitual kind of music they were accustomed of. It was a challenge for them and they chose the easy way by saying "no, we don't like it", simple isnīt it? The Mission started as a Gothic band in 1986 after two members of it left The Sisters of Mercy. ...

tring seem to scream this ain't The Mission you knew and liked better." 'Shades of Green pt.II' failed ever impress me, hip-hop mish is not a pretty sight or sound. 'Trail of Scarlet' is a pleasant little straight-forward pop song, as is the track before it, 'Even You May Shine'- my personal favorite on the LP-which is much cooler and single-worthy(why it wasn't released as one is baffling)than 'Shades'was. The middle of the LP is integrated with arabic strings and pleasant tracks such as 'Spider and the Fly' and eternally-graceful 'Like a Child Again' benefit greatly from this change of ...

Products similar to God's Own Medicine - Mission
Purgatory Afterglow - Edge Of Sanity
Approachable death metal.
Too many weak songs and failed attempts to combine genres.
Crimson Ii - Edge Of Sanity
If you liked the first one, you'll probably enjoy this too.
Re-treads old ground, and doesn't have its predecessor's charm or talent.
Infernal - Edge Of Sanity
A couple of enjoyable death metal songs, retaining some progressive elements.
Weak attempts to return to the old-school, and lazy performance.
A Pleasant Shade Of Grey - Fates Warning
Admirable ambition.
Boring, with very few interesting ideas.
Perfect Sym - Fates Warning
Pioneering progressive metal with a distinctive approach.
Too many slow songs try my patience.
Awaken The Guardian (cd+dvd) - Fates Warning
Pioneering progressive metal.
Rather samey.
Northwind - Falconer
More songs, nice dual guitars, continues established sound.
Pretty much the same thing again and again.
Ruun - Enslaved
Effective incorporation of mellow elements into modern black metal.
Songs tend towards similarity.
Where At Night The Wood Grouse Plays - Empyrium
Proves the band's folk talents.
No metal here, which may disappoint fans.
Wintersunset - Empyrium
Epic folk metal.
Slightly overblown and incoherent.
