Advantages: Just plain good music
Disadvantages: Won't suit everyone
I only wonder why so much of the crap nu-metal scene becomes famous when good bands such as Godsmack just get totaly ignored. This band released a great cd named very unoriginally "GODSMACK", however, it must be said that the album is very impressive. Their music is very original but incorporates the styles of bands before them. There are parts which are extremely similar to Korn. Other parts will make you thing you're listening to Metallica and other Limp Bizkit, but this is far from being anything close to Rap. Their album consists of 12 songs, one of which is just a short instrumental, which is nice to listen to and I htink is inspired to London as its called "someone in London". In my opinion the best song of the album is "Whatever" which is probably their most famous one too. However much I like the music I have to admit that they are lacking in fantasy as their lyrics tend to repeat and lyrically speaking their songs are short, but thankfully they make up for it bringing in changes on the bass and guitars, which is good and makes for enjoyable listening. The song contains many other very enjoyable songs, all very metal and very loud. Songs to keep an eye on, or at least spare a minute and listen to are "Voodoo", which is very melodic in its own way and "Moon Baby" which is the very first song of the album and does a very good job in projecting you straight into the mood for the rest of the album. I first heard this band on the radio, on a program about bands to keep an eye on. Most of the music on the sation was crap, but Godsmack just stood out and really shone, and even now when I compare it to other bands, I think it is real worthy stuff. I really recommend this cd. Unfortunately when we are talking about music, writing cannot convince you to buy a cd!!! Give it a listen, you won't be dissappointed. It is real good stuff.
