Paid In Full: Platinum Edition - Eric B & Rakim
by Letterman - written on 11/06/09 (Very useful, 4 readings)
Rating:
jazz monologues. Paid in Full came out in 87, and of course, now sounds dated, as with any old school selection. But it ain t about that. Eric B productions and dj skill, the cuttin and the scratchin is doper than dope, of which snippets have made appearances in many cuts over the last twenty years. In a similar fashion, Rakim s quotables have been quoted and re-written many times, example "...i came in door, said it before..." has been used by shaky mc that is Puff daddy. Probably the most famous tune on this album is the title track, Paid in Full, a name deriving from Eric B receiving payment from the label and realising said phrase was printed on the ...

Paid In Full - Eric B. & Rakim

Rating:
Released in 1987, "Paid in Full" is the debut album from the legendary Hip Hop duo, Eric B. & Rakim. Until recently, when I educated myself on this musical genre, and the progression which it had made over the years, I knew very little about this pair, other than hearing one of the tracks from this album, "I Know You Got Soul", on a couple of occassions, but I beleive that after hearing the whole album through, you understand its signficance for Hip Hop, and why it should be called a classic record. The rapper, Rakim, and DJ, Eric B. were groundbreaking in what they presented with this album, and their partnership effortlessly combines great ...

Rating:
get Rawkus, whereas people who are into commercail rubbish have got Eminem. But no one, it seems, covers the whole range of the unified "Hip-Hop Nation" in the way that Eric B and Rakim did, back in the day. Eric B (né Barrier) and Rakim (William Griffin Jr) were part of the rich seam of hip-hoppers from the polite quarters of suburban New York – Eric from Elmhurst in Queens, Rakim from Wyandanch, Long Island. Along with Public Enemy, EPMD and De La Soul, they formed part of hip hop's second wave, as it spread from its cradle in the blighted South Bronx to metropolitan New York, en route to going global. A very talented musician, Eric Barrier ...

Products similar to Gold - Eric B. & Rakim
Vanity/Nemesis - Celtic Frost
Return to form.
Little stands out.
Tims House - Kate Walsh
Calming, beautiful voice.
Maybe a little boring for some.
The Mix-up - Beastie Boys
Could be used as background music.
No musical ability whatsoever is displayed here, the album is despicably tedious.
Take No Prisoners - Motorhead
Heavy Metal - 1997
Skeletons - Wednesday 13
An excellent album full of high quality horror punk tracks.
I do believe this album is truly flawless
Searching For The Hows And Whys - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly
sounds the same as last album but with a more upbeat tracks
may not be to every ones taste tacks renmed off of b-sides
Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation - Soho Dolls
Album contains a number of excellent highly sexed dirty electro anthems.
It's not perfect, there is most certainly room for improvement.
Into The Pandemonium - Celtic Frost
Some successful experiments.
Some really bad experiments.
Fears In The Water - The Vincent Black Shadow
The vocals are excellent, the guitars possess great power.
Too many of the tracks here are incredibly instrumentally repetitive.
Cold Lake - Celtic Frost
Not quite as bad as I expected.
Weak, repetitive and pointless.
