Ok, I'm writing about this album 11 years too late, but better late than never! Travis are a 4 piece indie rock band from Scotland, who have gained fame for their catchy lyrics and timeless tunes. "Good Feeling" was the debut album by the band, an album which I feel they have not yet topped. It is much heavier and rockier than the subsequent releases, and surrounds such universal topics that its impossible not to love them. I got into Travis quite late, around 2003, mainly because I was a very pretentious teen who felt she was too cool for a band like travis before 2003! My mum's had this album, however, since the day of its release, so ... Read the complete review

The father of a very good friend of mine has a saying. Well, it's more of a factual statement, but that doesn't make it any less true. With regards to some old material of a certain band, he'll say – "That was when they were good." And it's quite often true – bands have a habit of trailing off later in their careers, so sometimes we find we can say that they used to be a lot better than they are now. Of course, it's also occasionally true that bands get better as they gain experience, but this only happens in some isolated cases. - The million dollar kind Travis (in my opinion anyway – most people ... After hearing Travis' second album, the much acclaimed 'The Man Who', I bought this album thinking it would be similar. However, their debut album is far more upbeat, with only the ending to the album containing a downbeat mood. The album starts off with the group's customary gig opener, All I Want To Do Is Rock, and this sets the mood for the first four songs. Typical of their other songs, both on this and their follow up album, AIWTDIR has moments of Fran Healey 'screaming' and this release of energy seems to be Healey's way of letting out his frustrations. Following this, U16 Girls and The Line Is Fine are again examples of Travis ... Read the complete review

If somebody said to you "Travis", I'm sure most people would immediately think four Scottish lads singing slow, depressing, morbid songs. Well you would be right, they are, have been, and always will be four Scottish lads but have they always sung slow, depressing music? NO! Their first album - "Good Feeling" proves that before they became famous, they sung some very...interesting songs! Most of the people I know who like Travis own "The Man Who" and/or "The Invisible Band". I saw "Good Feeling" in Woolies for four quid in the January sales and thought to myself, hey why not you can't go wrong for four ... Read the complete review

Here is a question for you; do you own the Man Who by Travis? I am sure most people have this particular CD in their collection as it sold by the bucket load. I have it but it is not my favcourtie Travis album. My favourite Travis album is their debut album Good Feeling, I always feel a little bit protective of Travis. I discovered them long before Why Does It Rain On Me became a massive hit and everyone had fallen for the charms of Fran Healy. I fell in love with them in the summer of 1997. This was the long golden summers of my studenthood (The first time around!). I heard Tied to the 90s and felt what a happy jaunty record this is. I then saw them in a tent ...
