For the most part however, singer Nick Holmes' vocals remain coarse, guttoral and etheral in style, albeit interspersed with dejected clean sections as the songs demand it, whilst the lyrics are again delightfully bleak and help further accentuate the album's claustrophobic and dejected atmosphere.

After the nightmarish, crawling doom of their previous album 'Lost Paradise', Yorkshire metal band Paradise Lost were to begin their travels into more accessable territory with their second full-length, 'Gothic', released back in 1991.
