Advantages: Great music
Disadvantages: Nothing at all
Like the title of my opinion? Well basically 'I Gotta Tell You' is Samantha Mumbas album that is out now in the shops, although I think it has been out for quite a while, it may have even been released late last year, I decided to buy the album after I fell in love with Sam's latest single 'Baby Come On Over' I got this album a couple of weeks back now and have been listening to it ever since, it really is quite superb and unique, I love Samantha Mumba, all of her songs released have done so well and this album is just as good, a blend of her strong voice mixed with some lower toned tunes brings out this album as a one to have in any demanding womens CD collection although many lads like Ms Mumba too but maybe not for her voice! I bought the special edition 15 track CD and here is what I thought of it... As always I am listening to the CD as I write (I think it helps, it inspires me of interesting words for each track!!) 1. Gotta Tell You This was Ms Mumbas first ever single, may I also mention at this point that this is her first ever album too. This song made a great impression of the young solo artist and already, like many others I liked her as well as the song. The song was a very sucessful hit with a great video to go with it, I couldn't wait for more like this one. This tune had a great rythym and the lyrics were hard to get out of your head, a very catchy tune showing Samantha Mumba's talents at the limit. The track is a reasonable length, not too long or short, it is 3.23 mins. This track has to have a 9/10. 2. Body II Body Along came single number 2 for Samantha and just as we expected, another pure hit with excellent vibe and an outstanding video. I loved this tune and I still do now, the whole funky lyrics thing mixed with Sams very own unique style made this track hit number 2 for her solo career. This song is a great party song and great to dance to, this has to have a 10
/10. 3. Baby Come On Over This is the single that Samantha Mumba has just released, it is doing really well in the charts! This song is really upbeat and really easy to dance to in front of the mirror (Not that I'm admitting to doing that!) This song is fab and defo one of my faves if not my favourite on the album, its so catchy and I love the way it goes straight into the chorus at the beginning, I think the chorus makes the song really, the other lyrics are nothing special, but I still give this tune 10/10. 4. Isn't It Strange This song is really catchy but reminds me of a typical 'Britney Spears' early stages song! It is cool to listen to but can get annoying, you have to be in a certain mood to listen to it. (Well thats what I've found!) I still like this song though, it just isn't as good as some others on the CD, this gets 7/10. 5. Lately I really like this song as I can relate to it, this is a cover track but still an excellent one at that, I really like the chorus and when I'm down I love listening to this song, I like the way she expresses her feelings through her voice. The lyrics are really thought provoking and clever, this is a great RnB slow hit that I love to listen to when I'm down, dont ask why!? This has to have a 10/10. 6. What's It Gonna Be This track is pure Sam style and I like it, it isn't one of my personal favourites on the album but I can listen to it although I do find it quite annoying sometimes! I find it quite catchy though and it stays in my head too which is sometimes ok but generally quite annoying! I like the groovy ending to this one, this track has to have a 8/10. 7. Always Come Back To Your Love I had this song on another CD of mine which made it a personal favourite for me, I think this one starts off really well, very upbeat, catchy and cool but then as time goes on this track starts to bore me, I st
ill think it is a really good tune though and highly recommend it, its just that it is quite a long song. This song is all about forgiveness and going wrong in relationships. (I assume!) This song was released by Sam herself earlier this year and did well in the charts, it is a true RnB hit. I give this one 8/10. 8. Lose You Again This has to be one of the less better tracks on the CD but is still relatively ok, I don't skip any tracks on this album because I at least LIKE all of them, but if I had to skip one it would most probably be this one, I give this track 7/10 but I do like it, you just have the good and not so good tracks! 9. Feelin Is Right This song is outstanding, very dancy and pure class, hopefully Sam may release this! The lyrics again are quite thought provoking and the chorus is pretty good too! I think this track shows a naughty but nice side of Ms Mumba, she can be daring as well as sweet and pretty! I have to give this song 9/10 and I love the cool ending too! 10. Never Meant To Be I love this tune to bits and I think Sam should release it! I can also relate to this track loads too, I'm not sure if thats why I like it so much though, it's a really slow tune and beat and quite upsetting if you've just broken up with that one special person. Again, Samantha explains her feelings by projecting her voice and boy does she do it well! I think this is an amazing love song and totally recommend it! This has to have 10/10. 11. Believe In Me This track is another pretty good one, not one of the best but still listenable and very good, again like some of the other songs Samantha has produced on this album, the verses are plain and interesting and the chorus' are brilliant, this track has to have an 8/10. 12. Til The Night Becomes Day I like this tune, it is a really sweet little number and helps you to get through the hard times, it helps to boost
your self awareness (Well it does for me!) The verses are quite thought provoking and the chorus is loving and caring, I think this track is a gorgeous one and very listenable, I adore this track and like listening to it, it is very peaceful and relaxing, this has to have 10/10. 13. Stand By Your Side The beginning of this one reminds me of the start of a BackStreetBoys song but I'm not sure which one! Then when Sam starts to sing the lyrics, I for some reason get reminded of Liberty's latest song (The POPSTAR rejects!) But in general this song is ok but not that great, it has an impact on the album and is quite groovy, this song is nothing special though, not as good as some others on the CD. I give this song 8/10. 14. Gotta Tell You (Teddy Riley Remix) WOW, this is a bonus track on the SPECIAL EDITION CD and it is a superb track! I much prefer it to the original but I do like the original! It is really catchy with some great back up talent, it is much more upbeat, partyish style! I gave the original version (track 1) 9/10 and I give this one 10/10! 15. Signed Sealed Delivered This is suposedly a cover track and come to think of it I do recognise the cheeky lyrics and cheesy song from somewhere before! But all in all another good bonus track, the beat is very 'POP'ISH but Sams voice makes a massive impact on the whole tune. This gets 7/10. I have also downloaded this album off the internet and recieved a couple tracks that aren't on the album itself, some are of really high quality so you may want to know what they are like: 1. The first one is called 'The Boy' and goodness knows why this isn't on the album, I've totally fallen for this, it is a massive up beat song with some interesting lyrics, the lyrics aren't that great but I love the beat, this is a real dancy song and a great party hit! The track personally reminds me of a J.LO song (Jennifer Lopez
or should I say Mrs Jennifer Judd now!?) This song suits J.LO's image down to the ground, maybe you can imagine the tune a little more now!? This song should be on the SPECIAL EDITION CD and I give it 10/10. 2. 'I Don't Need You To' is the other added track that I have off the internet, this song is a slow one and a nice change from the beaty and dancy tracks, the lyrics are very important in this track, the tune explains how what is inside counts and not what is shown on the outside, it isn't looks Sam wants to be noticed for, it's her 'soul' inside that matters to her and she eppresses herself really well, I wonder why this wasn't on the album too, I give this track 9/10. Overall this album is outstanding and I love listening to it, the great combination of RnB both, slow and fast shows off Samantha Mumbas talents really well, I also like the mixture of brilliant and not so good tracks although each track has had so much time spent over it, they are all superb, this album is brilliant and the best one I have bought in a long while, I once wrote an op on my Destiny's Child album, 'Survivor' saying it was my fave album ever and it still is but this was so close to beating it! I hope I've helped you all and if you are after some Ms Mumbas tunes, go buy her album, you won't be dissapointed! Cheers for reading as always people! ~M~ :0) Thanks for reading my opinion everyone, for all of you that are interested, I had a brilliant time in spain but suppose its good to be back, should be back to normal writing more ops soon! ~M~ :0)
