Advantages: It is superb!

Disadvantages: You might crash your car.

I'm writing this opinion to anyone who hasn't yet heard this album. It's been around for a good while (1986 I think), so most of you will have heard it. If you have, don't bother reading on, you know how incredibly well-made and beautiful this record is; if you haven't heard it, stop reading this and go and buy it NOW!

Graceland is one of the best albums ever made IMO. I like a lot of Simon and Garfunkel, but this is on another level. It carries you from Louisiana Cajun jive to deep African rhythmn with total ease and you will find yourself dancing by the end of the first side. (TIP: listen to it on your own the first time, so as not to embarrass yourself and not in a car, or you'll speed).

It has a broad range of musics and styles on it that I haven't experienced anywhere else except maybe Afro-Celt Sound System. I wore out my first copy of it!

Ladysmith Black Mambazo are still around and are still a great group; it was this record which first brought them to fame in this country (not that flipping Beanz advert <g>) and they heartily complement Paul's voice and guitar. I would check out some of their music if (when) you like this album.

Ok, I guess you must have got the drift of this opinion by now - buy the record!
