Brilliant! (Greatest Hits - Aerosmith)
Member Name: liamb71
Advantages: 'Dream On' and 'Same old Song and Dance' Disadvantages: None
The first thing to remember when you see this album in the shops or online is that it was released in 1980, long before Aerosmith's second coming, and thus fortunately it does not include any of the dreadful saccharine nonsense churned out in the 90s. However I think it is fair to say that there is not one bad track on this album because of that fact! For me this was an era when Aerosmith truly were great, although I didn't actually get to hear this album until they re=emerged with 'Pump' in the late 80s, which prompted me to delve into the band's back catalogue. There are at least three tracks on here which most people will recognise instantly. The first is opening track 'Dream On', which was sampled by Eminem, and the second is 'Walk this Way', which was popularised by Run DMC in a corroboration with Aerosmith which brought them back into the mainstream in 1986. The third is their take on Lennon and McCartney's 'Come Together', which was later also covered by Michael Jackson. Summary: A great album, easy to see why it has sold over ten million in the US! |
